WAWA is an organic children’s wear brand for ages 2 to 10 years. It celebrates a child’s sense for simple details and opens the door to a universe of unlimited creativity and environmental awareness.
WAWA means ’child’ in Aymara – a native language spoken by Indians in Bolivia and Peru. It is also part of WAWA founder Johanna’s middle name, Warawara Wawa, which means ’star child’.
Johanna Topooco founded the brand in Copenhagen in 2016. Being a mother herself she discovered that there was a general need in the market for organic and sustainable clothing for children older than two, so from these ideals she started designing simple and elegant children’s wear. Her ambition is to offer healthy, high quality, good value fashion for the younger generation.
Much of Johanna’s inspiration for her timeless and refined collections comes from a clean Scandinavian aesthetic and her Indian father’s life-long philosophy of traditional worship of nature.
WAWA wants to show that pleasure can be found in the simplest things, and that it is of utmost importance to respect and cherish culture and nature – our children’s inheritance.
